Debra Bardowicks Photography Website Build

Case study: Debra Bardowicks photography website

The key to a great photography website design has to be visual impact. If you’re not showing off your best work to it’s maximum potential, how will clients grow to know, like and trust you?

This photography website project came with a multi-lingual twist as Debra needed her site to support dual language options: English and German.

About the client

Debra Bardowicks is a highly talented photographer based in Germany. Debra’s particular niche is animal photography.

She has been working worldwide as a photographer for the media, advertising, charities and private clients since 2006.

The brief

Debra Bardowicks Photography website - portfolio homepage

Debra has taken some absolutely stunning images and wanted a portfolio site to show them off. She had a bit of a journey with setting up her WordPress site, and had come to a point where she needed toreach out for help.

As well as a naturally image-heavy site, there was an added twist in that Debra wanted to present the information in two languages: German and English. This required two menus and a switching mechanism.

The process

Getting to know the client and their businesses is a crucial part of the process. So to kick off, Debra and I had an in-depth discussion over Skype. We dug into the detail of

  • exactly how she wanted her site to work,
  • her design ethos and why she had selected the Arte theme, and
  • the background of the website’s development to date.

Armed with this invaluable data, I took the content and started to put the site into order and make it fit with her vision.

Between us we have built a beautiful portfolio site for Debra’s work. You should definitely take a look at her amazing images and read her latest blog posts if you need some inspiration.
