Every website build project is as unique as the business it represents, and the Diverse Minds project was no exception. This one came with the added bonus of working with Leyla Okhai, a truly inspirational business founder.
About the client
Diverse Minds UK was founded by Leyla Okhai, a coach, mediator, diversity, inclusion and wellbeing practitioner with over sixteen years’ experience. Leyla specialises in creating “equal, happy and mentally healthy workplaces through training, coaching, speaking and consultancy”.
Through her business, Diverse Minds, Leyla offers training, coaching, and consultancy solutions to organisations and individuals. Her focus is on wellbeing, team-building, and cross-cultural awareness.
Leyla is a highly experienced professional practitioner with accreditation from TDSDI, Mental Health First Aid England, and is Tetramap Certified.
The brief
Leyla came to me with a fully formed idea of what she wanted from her website. Including a huge A2 mental map of the content. I knew immediately that we were going to get on like a house on fire!
Our kick off meeting included an in depth discussion of the site framework and content. For me, website usability an essential starting point. Focusing on the user journey and making sure the navigation is usable is the bedrock of a good website.
Design-wise, Leyla was looking for a clean, contemporary-looking website with imagery which reflected the diversity inherent in her organisation’s brand. Together we reviewed a selection of sites she felt had a good design, and also those that didn’t resonate with her aesthetic.
Finally, Leyla wanted a site she could add to herself. She is an active blogger and podacaster, so she needed an easy to use Content Management System (CMS) to support a busy news section.
